Love

Let all that you do be done with love – 1 Corinthians 16:14

Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned  2Timothy 1:5

Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him. Psalm 103:13

Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. Psalm 127:3

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?   Matthew 7:11

But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 19:14

But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.  Hebrews 12:8

Know your children’s Condition

Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds.  Proverbs 27:23-27

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.  James 5:16

Be Unified with your wife in your instruction:

And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: Matthew 12:25

How you live matters

Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;  Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being examples to the flock. 1 Peter 5:2-3

And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites: And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the Lord his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them: That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel.  Deut 17:18-20

Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons;  Deut 4:8

And he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law. For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: and through this thing ye shall prolong your days in the land, whither ye go over Jordan to possess it. Deut 32:46-47

The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him. Proverbs 20:7

So these nations feared the Lord, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children’s children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day. 2 Kings 17:41

In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.  Judges 21:25

And Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life.  And he went from year to year in circuit to Bethel, and Gilgal, and Mizpeh, and judged Israel in all those places. And his return was to Ramah; for there was his house; and there he judged Israel; and there he built an altar unto the Lord1 Samuel 7:15-17      And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment.  1 Samuel 8:3

Pray

And turn ye not aside: for then should ye go after vain things, which cannot profit nor deliver; for they are vain.  For the Lord will not forsake his people for his great name’s sake: because it hath pleased the Lord to make you his people.  Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way:  1 Samuel 12:23

Don’t provoke with anger.

And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.  James 1:18-19

Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath  Psalm 6:1

O Lord, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.. Psalm 38:1

Teach Scripture

When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.  2 Timothy 1:5

But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;  And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.  2 Timothy 3:14-15

Specially the day that thou stoodest before the Lord thy God in Horeb, when the Lord said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.  Deuteronomy 4:10

We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. Psalm 78:4

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;  Ephesians 4:14

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being My priest. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. Hosea 4:6

Manage  your Children

Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.  Colossians 3:20

One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;  1 Timothy 3:4

Discipline

Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O Lord, and teachest him out of thy law Psalm 94:12

Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:  Job 5:17

For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life Proverbs 6:23

A wise son heareth his father’s instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke. Proverbs 13:1

He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. Proverbs 13:24

Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying. Proverbs 19:18

Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Proverbs 23:13

For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not. 1 Samuel 3:13

Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord thy God chasteneth thee. Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him Deut 8:5-6

Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. Matthew 18:15

And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. Hebrew 12:5-11

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Revelation 3:19

Be Patient

Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him. Proverbs 22:15

Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails; 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a (NASB)
