How to Grow Spiritually

1 Peter 2:2 says, “like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation.”

According to this verse, the key to spiritual growth is to desire and yearn sincerely for God’s word in the same way that a hungry newborn baby desires and yearns for their mother’s milk. If you have never been around a newborn then this example may not mean much to you, but if you have seen how intensely newborn’s crave their nourishment then you have an accurate and convicting picture of how God desires us to seek Him through His Word. While there are many ways to do this, the list below gives some practical ways that have helped us over the years:

  1. Hearing the Word
  2. Reading the Word
  3. Studying the Word
  4. Memorizing the Word
  5. Meditating on the Word
